Louis C. Tiffany Designs – Morse Museum
Known as a leader of the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements, Louis C. Tiffany (1848-1943) and his designers used his trademark favrile glass to express nature-inspired themes for extraordinary lamps and windows.
Tiffany Studios designers often began with a close observation of nature. Working from detailed botanical photographs, they created the initial watercolor sketches that would be translated into spectacular leaded glass compositions.
A curated selection of three luminous Tiffany designs inspired by stained-glass windows in the collection of the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum: View of Oyster Bay (the original work is on extended loan to The Metropolitan Museum of Art), Field of Lilies, and Magnolia.
