These notecards feature van Gogh's The Large Plane Trees. After suffering a severe hallucinatory seizure, Vincent van Gogh committed himself to an asylum near Saint-Rémy. While walking through the town that fall, he was impressed by the sight of men repairing a road beneath immense trees. He rushed to capture the scene painting this composition on an unusual cloth. It had a pattern of small red diamonds on it which are still visible in the pictures many unpainted areas. Our print reproduces this significant, passion-driven artwork that now resides in the Cleveland Museum of Art collection.
