In this set of two journals, one is inspired by the Princess and Attendant in Trompe l'Oeil Window, by Aquil Khan. Although unidentifiable by an inscription or individualized portrait features, the seated figure can be recognized as a powerful royal woman, the model for whom might be the mother or wife of Muhammad Shah, the last Mughal emperor able to fully support the arts at the imperial court. The other is inspired by An Illuminated Opening Page from the Emperor' Album (the Kevorkian Album) with a Portrait of Emperor Alamgir, 1640-45; portrait after 1658.
